Shotley Bridge Root Canal

ROOT TREATMENT

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the centre of a tooth (the root canal system). It’s also known as ‘endodontics’.

The infection is caused by bacteria that live in the mouth and invade the tooth.

This can happen after:

  • tooth decay
  • leaky fillings
  • damage to teeth as a result of trauma,

DENTURES

Dentures are removable false teeth made of acrylic (plastic) or metal. They fit snugly over the gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps.
Gaps left by missing teeth can cause problems with eating and speech, and teeth either side of the gap may grow into the space at an angle.

BRIDGES

A bridge is a way of replacing missing teeth without using a denture. The missing tooth is replaced by a false one that is fixed to one or more of the neighbouring teeth. The bridge is either held in by crowns or by small metal wings which are glued to the back of other teeth.

CROWNS

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is sometimes known as a ‘cap’. A dental bridge is a restoration that consists of more than one crown joined together to close a gap (missing teeth) between two supporting healthy teeth.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

It’s no secret that film stars and celebrities keenly seek this form of treatment to create their perfect smile. You may say it’s a professional requirement. This is considered to be the state–of–the–art cosmetic treatment and is now widely available.
Unlike crowns, veneers only cover the front surface of a tooth. They are individually handcrafted from porcelain by a highly skilled experienced technician.

WHITE FILLINGS

WHITE FILLINGS

Replacing stained fillings on your front teeth is a straightforward treatment that can rejuvenate your smile.

Metal fillings on back teeth can be replaced with tooth coloured composite resin fillings or inlays made of composite resin or porcelain.

Modern bonding techniques and materials mean that fillings can be matched exactly to your natural teeth and are strong and hard-wearing.
